We initially met Life Goals as “Kicken Ohne Grenzen,” an educational project for children, teenagers and young adults from socially disadvantaged communities.
We were enamoured with. their approach towards using sports, and more notably football as a social tool that creates a feeling of value and belonging, particularly in disadvantaged youth coming from migrant backgrounds.
They focus on providing a platform for young people to discover their abilities and gain confidence; and develop a positive perspective for the future.
Life Goals – A Danny Nedkova Film
How we discovered this amazing initiative
While we were organizing the Park(ING) Day for Fitness project, we had the pleasure and opportunity to interact with Vienna’s sports initiatives. Kicken Ohne Grenzen stood out as an amazing initiative that was not only using sports as a social tool, but also for empowerment and inclusion. In fact, we even visited them with the partners from the project, which included organizations from Poland, Romania, Bulgaria, France, and the Netherlands, to look into how they operated and what their activities were. Our partners were extremely happy to exchange with them and learn from their experience.
They have a holistic approach, one that does not measure success on performance, but rather on creating trust and sustainable support tools. This in turn, helps youth recognize their individual needs and abilities and learn to believe in themselves.
Quite naturally, we decided to make an expose on them, given their unique approach to using sports not as an end, but a tool to promote sustainable change.
So, here it is, the film created by our Danny Nedkova on Life Goals:
